First of all I'll introduce my car which is a 2004 Volkswagen Lupo GTi in Black. As standard these cars push out 125bhp, from the 1.6 16V engine under the bonnet. In the UK the lupo has always been seen as an expensive small car, which when compared to its rivals, it was. The majority of Lupo drivers you see on the roads in the UK are generally over 50 and use the car as a A to B car, to and from the shops.
The GTi changes this stereotype completely. Most drivers are under 25, and because of its rarity (995 shipped to the UK from Germany), it turns heads where ever you go.
I have owned my car since March 2006. And in this time I have made a few cosmetic changes. These include: -
- Black VW badges, front & rear
- Golf anniversary GTi badge on the rear
- 'Cambridge' edition rear clusters
- Smoked side and rear windows
- 'Lupo GTi' sill protectors
You can view most of these modifications on my Flickr account here
Now onto todays modification...
After a good wash, I fitted a 'car bra'. Most people say 'What the hell is that?', but if you mention it to anyone interested in the VAG scene they will either say 'Wow, they look cool', or 'They look crap'. Personally I think they not only look great, but they do serve a purpose too.
For those that don't know, a 'car bra' fits over the front edge of the bonnet, and is usually made of leather. Its pupose to stop stone chips, but in recent years they have been turned into a feature.
Enjoy!
