Sun Flower Stays Holiday Let

I recently completed a project for a family member who has a holiday let in France, but didn't have a website to advertise it. A basic idea was given to me before starting on what it needed to do, after which a design was drawn up by a talented designer friend, which was quickly approved. From here, I set about building up a skeleton using the fantastic PHP-WAX framework. The CSS & HTML proved a nice challenge with the quite unique layout of the pages.

Automated watering: Hozelock Aquapod

WAA recently commissioned a new website for a product coming to the world of gardeners. The Aquapod is an automated irrigation system that is designed to be extendable as your garden grows. hozelock-aquapod. com was developed using the PHP-WAX framework and is also taking advantage of Wildfire CMS for administrative purposes. The site uses Google Maps for showing location of users' reviews and also is also used to give an effective illustration of places to buy the Aquapod.

Setup an SVN repository

In this day and age, if you are a developer and not using some kind of version control for your applications, then you need to give yourself a kick up the backside and start updating your skillset. I recommend starting with Subversion (SVN) as this offers complete control over your repository and is also widely used, so there are plenty of Blogs and articles knocking about on Google. First of all you need to install SVN on both your server and local machine.

Ecommence: The Ruby on Rails way

A recent project was to create a full e-commerce solution for a local aquatic shop. They already had an online store, using a heavily butchered version of OsCommerce. The brief was quite vague, basically to recreate all the features they currently had, and also to improve the Search Engine Friendliness of the site. A design was signed off, and so the work could begin on Aquatic-Store. co. uk I have previously completed a couple of projects using Ruby on Rails, and thought this new project would be the perfect opportunity to create a e-commerce application using the powerful RoR framework.
